Opinions about International Relations and Argentina's foreign policy

Most of inhabitants consider that it is necessary to attract investments to the country and to stop drug trafficking, which is one of the most relevant international issues for society along with wars, terrorism and human trafficking. Uruguay is the country with the best positive image, while Venezuela is the most criticized.

The Social Research Centre (CIS) UADE – Voices! carried out a national public opinion study with the objective of knowing the opinions of Argentinians about the role of our country in the world, as well as about different issues related to foreign policy, opening to new markets and the commercial link with other nations.

Some findings of the study:

  • The most important international issues are drug trafficking (18%), wars (17%), terrorism (14%) and human trafficking (10%). Further behind with 9% of the mentions appears climate change, followed by world hunger (7%), and concentration of wealth (7%).
  • When evaluating different international organizations, half of the population has a good image of Mercosur (50%), followed by the UN (39%).
  • International credit agencies such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank are the worst viewed agencies (47% and 37% negative image in each case).
  • 7 out of 10 Argentinians have a bad image of Donald Trump (72%), harvesting positive impressions in only 12% of the people.
