A Snapshot of Women in America

American women - in general - are satisfied with their current life, but Argentinian women are the least satisfied in the region.

The research was carried out together with the WIN network in 11 countries in the region: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Canada, Chile, Ecuador, United States, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay and Peru. Access to rights, gender equality, family and maternity, gender violence and sexual harassment are the main topics addressed by the study conducted by Voices! with the support of AVON Foundation in Argentina.

Some of the study's findings:

• 67% of women in America report having little or no free time.
• 6 out of 10 Americans mention that the opinion of their partner and/or the education received in their family influence the making of their personal decisions.
• 8 out of 10 working mothers do so for necessity, but a third would prefer to devote themselves to childcare.
• In Argentina, 25% of working women say they do it because they like it and 31% would prefer to stop working.
• In Argentina, 48% of working women perceive that they have fewer opportunities for professional growth compared to men.
• 31% of Argentinians admit having suffered gender-based violence in the past year, while 29% said they had suffered sexual harassment in the past year.
