Argentinians' opinions about new technologies
Most of Argentinians agree that new technologies improve people's life and are useful for enriching education and producing employment.
The Social Research Centre (CIS) UADE – Voices! carried out a national public opinion study with the aim of understanding citizens' perceptions of the different aspects linked to new technologies in general and technology linked to the field of work in particular, both in the present and for the future.
Some findings from the study:
- For the majority of Argentinians (60%) science and new technologies such as robotics, computing, communications and artificial intelligence help to improve the personal lives of citizens.
- Looking to the future, benevolent effects of technology are predicted. Half of Argentinians believe that the world will be better 20 years from now due to technological changes (49%).
- Health and medical care (84%) and formal education (76%) emerge as the areas that will benefit most from developments in science and technology in the next 20 years.
- For three quarters of Argentinians, new technologies will lose more jobs than will be created. Only 2 out of 10 Argentinians (19%) are confident that more jobs will be generated.
