Research on Health
For half of Argentinians the most urgent health problem is drug abuse, and 2 out of 10 mention cancer. It is followed by stress, stroke, heart disease, alcoholism and dengue fever.
The Social Research Centre (CIS) UADE – Voices! conducted a national public opinion study with the aim of knowing the perceptions of Argentinians about health care in our country. Among other questions, it was investigated which are the most urgent health problems that affect citizens as well as how the population evaluates the health care process in its different stages during the medical consultation.
Some findings from the study:
- 7 out of 10 Argentinians evaluate positively the facilities of the health services.
- 77% say they have been treated with dignity, cordiality and respect by the doctor. However, the ratings are divided in terms of shift assignments and waiting times.
- 1 in 10 Argentinians said they stopped buying prescription drugs because they could not afford them.
- 6% of Argentinians say they have given up seeking medical attention because they lack the financial means to pay for it. There is also a 5% who state that they have been denied medical attention because they do not have enough money to pay for it.
